Let’s say you and your fiancé designate a night to create your playlist for your wedding. It’s Thursday night, and you both sit down at the table with a sheet of paper or your laptop spreadsheet. You are ready to rattle off songs and nothing specific comes to mind. You know genres or how a song sounds but cannot put it down on paper.
One idea is to place sticky pads and a pen in your car, your place of work, on your kitchen table. Then place a box marked “WEDDING SONGS” in your home where you place your keys, purse, or wallet at the end of your day. When you hear a song, write it down and place the piece of paper in your pocket. Don’t write while driving though - pull over! At the end of the day, when you empty your pocket with receipts, change, etc… place the note in the box. You may be pleasantly surprised after a week or two at how many songs you and your fiancé will collect. Now, when you pick that night to create your song list, empty out your “WEDDING SONGS” box and go through your list.
Song ideas may come at the most unplanned time like in your car, in an elevator, or at a store. Let them come naturally and you'll have a great list compiled in no time!
